BLUE HOURS is both a love letter to my favourite time of day as well as a visual essay on isolation, introspection and change.
This book features roughly 30 new never shown before images, taken between late september and early december. During these weeks, when a second society-wide lockdown coincided with a period of soulsearching in my personal life, I was driven to cover the isolation of both society and the individual from a different angle. Not through a documentation of closed doors and masks, but through an attempt to show the beauty and room for introspection that loneliness can bring.

I was naturally drawn to sunsets, and walked for hours from the moment the sun started to go down, through the many shades of gold, cyan, blue and violet, till there was no light left but the red and green glimmers of traffic lights.

This book is to be a journey, from the hope and optimism of the bright glimmers of orange during sunset to the cold and lonely melancholy of dark blue skies through to the excitement of city lights slowly taking over from nature. I hope to take you along with me on these long walks, to experience this journey.
